Candles are one of the easiest ways to change the atmosphere of a space. When cared for properly, they burn more evenly, last longer, and release fragrance in a softer, more balanced way.

The first burn matters more than most people realise. When lighting a candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt all the way across the surface. This usually takes one to two hours depending on the size. Doing this helps prevent tunnelling and ensures an even burn over time.

Always trim the wick before lighting. A shorter wick creates a cleaner flame and reduces smoke. Ideally, the wick should be trimmed to around five millimetres. This also helps the scent disperse more evenly rather than burning too hot.
